Blessing Our Community - Day 33

DAY 33 -Thursday, May 2, 2024

James 1:22

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Scripture Insights
There’s nothing like good food. The aroma when food is nearing completion hints at the taste soon to be enjoyed. The beauty of an artistically crafted meal or baked treat cues anticipation. The only problem is, regardless of how incredible and satisfying any food might be, nothing can nourish us beyond the next few hours. Inevitably, hunger will arrive again, and again, and again.
Although the purpose of food preparation is ultimately to eat, hunting down a new recipe is an enjoyable way to start the process. Reading recipes can be inspiring, but they will never satisfy if left on the page. Instead, recipes are designed to become a plan, informing us of the ingredients to be gathered, time taken in preparation, and steps required to create something wonderful to eat.
Likewise, God’s Word left on the page can certainly be inspiring—but that is incomplete. Rather, these words become a plan, informing our thoughts and actions, time to be taken, and steps required to turn words and thoughts into tangible reality. And, just like excellent food, God’s Word is most fulfilling when others are invited to share in the doing and enjoying. Better than a good meal, putting God’s Word into action leaves lasting effects.

Today’s Prayer
Gracious God, may your Word inspire us to create divine recipes of kingdom truths. Guide us to plan, to act, and to invite others to join your good work. Remove all obstacles and free us for joyful obedience.

What is the Spirit saying to you today?
